It’s no secret that a company’s success depends on the standard of work produced by its team members. Ensuring that each team member is accountable for carrying out their roles and responsibilities is one way to create every company’s dream team. But what exactly makes a team a dream team? The answer is simple: a dream team comprises members that are equally ambitious, driven, and passionate, and consistently put in a high standard of work.
Use this 10-point checklist to pass the dream team test for your team:
Communication: Each team member should feel safe to communicate with other members by sharing ideas and thoughts and by listening closely on the other end. Good communication is essential for task efficiency and to prevent miscommunication and conflicts.
Goal-focused: With set goals in mind (including detailed outcomes and due dates), all team members can set the plan in motion to make the goals a reality.
Standards: Ensure that protocols are standardised and acknowledged to ensure that each team member is treated equally and fairly.
Delegate: Each team member should have a clear understanding of their responsibilities and carry out their duties accordingly. This is one way to harbour a sense of purpose and belonging for all team members.
Support: Assist your fellow team members wherever needed, whether this be through emotional support or technical guidance.
Diversity: Acknowledge every member’s unique knowledge and skill set to make sure that the right person is working on the right task.
Team-focus > self-focus: Each member plays a pivotal role in forming the foundation of a successful team. Remember, one person doesn’t make a team.
Leadership: No one enjoys being bossed around or micromanaged. Good leadership is based on an equal reciprocation of trust and respect between the team leader(s) and the team members.
Organisation: Chaos and success rarely go hand-in-hand. Staying up to date on progress and blockers by hosting regular meetings is a great way to ensure that each member is fulfilling their role.
Positivity: Adding the element of fun to tasks will create an enjoyable team dynamic to work with and can also help to create a positive atmosphere.
